Pakistan: PFA Cracks Down on Substandard Used Oil: A Bold Step for Public Health

In a decisive move to safeguard public health, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has launched a rigorous crackdown on vendors selling substandard used oil and adulterated milk. This operation, conducted under the directive of PFA’s Director General Asim Javed, targeted hotspots on Multan Chungi and Sheikhupura Road.

During these raids, PFA teams confiscated and destroyed 1,100 kilograms of substandard used oil and 100 liters of adulterated milk. The violators are now facing legal action, with fines totaling Rs135,000 imposed to deter future offenses.

On Sheikhupura Road, the story was similar. Over 4,000 liters of milk from 23 milk shops were inspected, revealing 100 liters of substandard milk. This inferior milk was swiftly disposed of, and hefty fines were levied on those responsible.

DG Asim Javed has urged consumers to remain vigilant. He recommends always reading labels before purchasing food items and reporting any suspicious products by calling the PFA helpline at 1223. He assured the public that PFA teams are working tirelessly, night and day, to eradicate food fraud and adulteration throughout Punjab.
